WLT Field Friday: Butterfly Bush Removal

Saxon Riparian is a special property that is a part of a 400-acre swath of protected land along the South Fork. This property is home to the South Fork elk herd and other native wildlife. We have planted over 400 trees out here in the last year and now it is time for invasive removal to ensure they survive. We will be focusing on blackberry and butterfly bush removal. In addition, we will be hiking around the property for our annual site visit.

Join us on this fun day long adventure! What to Expect: Walking on uneven ground, clearing plants, digging, cutting.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
