Earth Day Events Around Bellingham

Earth Day is an opportunity to give back to the planet we all call home. There are several outdoor activities happening in Whatcom County to show some love to the earth and the community. Whether you prefer cleaning up local beaches or getting your hands dirty potting plants, there is something for everyone among the flora and fauna.

Earth Day is Monday, April 22, 2024, but you can participate in various events throughout April.

Make our wonderful Earth proud by coming to this work party and helping to restore this beautiful ecosystem next to Lake Whatcom. We will be working along Fir Creek which is home to Kokanee and other native wildlife.

In the last few years, we have planted hundreds of trees at this property but they now need to be maintained. We will be removing invasive blackberry and clearing around each of these saplings. Join us on this beautiful morning of celebrating the Earth!

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
