The Sharp Five Jazz Collective

The Sharp Five Jazz Collective is a group of experienced musicians who came together because of their mutual desire to play the post-bop jazz of the late 50’s and early 60’s. While all the members play in numerous other ensembles, this is the one where they can play the music they love the most. Their repertoire includes music by Horace Silver, Wayne Shorter, Freddie Hubbard, Hank Mobley and other jazz greats of that era, and also includes songs by more modern artists such as Roy Hargrove and Christian McBride that carry the same great vibe. The group was conceived as a collective to provide an opportunity for many like-minded players to participate and share in bringing this remarkable music to audiences in the Northwest Washington.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
