Concert & Cruises - Piano Concert featuring Robert Poortinga

The concept is to bring together travel storytelling and classical music in an intimate concert setting, blending art, culture, and discovery. Each evening is hosted in collaboration with partners in travel who share insights and inspiration for cultural and luxury journeys.

Guests will be introduced to unique travel experiences through DeSalvio Travel, a Virtuoso affiliated agency, and will receive exclusive Virtuoso perks and offers available only at this event. The evening will be co-hosted by Robert Poortinga, acclaimed European pianist, who will not only perform a specially curated program inspired by destinations along Europe’s great rivers and cultural capitals, but will also share fascinating insights into the history of travel among composers in the 18th and 19th centuries – how journeys through Europe influenced their lives, ideas, and music.

The program includes works by Debussy, Chopin, Liszt, Brahms, and Strauss, each chosen to reflect the distinct character and atmosphere of the regions that inspired them. These evenings create a space where people who love music, art, and travel can connect personally, discovering destinations through sound and story.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
