What's the Point?

Join us for “What’s the Point?” a free, family-friendly exploration of Point Whitehorn Marine Reserve. Investigate the shoreline with expert naturalists, attend fascinating talks on local ecology and wildlife, and connect with organizations dedicated to protecting our coastal treasures. This year the Whatcom MRC will have an intertidal exploration table at the shoreline, where you can examine live tide‑pool species up close and learn how these remarkable organisms survive and thrive in dynamic coastal habitats.

It’s a perfect day for curious minds of all ages to learn, explore, and get inspired—please remember to leave your four-legged friends at home!

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
