PNW Mushroom ID & Foragers by Northwest Natura

A two-part series teaching you how to confidently identify wild mushrooms using field guides and dichotomous keys. This course by Northwest Natura is indoor/outdoor. The first day will primarily be indoor to get you oriented with mycology basics and how to use a technical key to identify mushrooms confidently (like the professionals!).

The second day will be putting your skills to use in the field. We’ll begin with a sit-down session before going out looking for mushrooms in the woods, identifying them together using keys and field guides. These courses will have both outdoor and indoor location details.

Exact details are TBA to registered participants. Expect Fairhaven, Bellingham, and Deming area as destinations for these courses. Registered participants will receive an email with details on location 2-4 days before each event. *Please register via the event website. Space is limited. More information provided online.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
