Ground Transport

Flying in to town or not bringing your own car? Whatcom County offers a variety of transportation options to help you get where you need to go! Explore all the options below. Before traveling, make sure to check our Travel Advisory page for updates about road closures. We also have information about crossing the US/Canada border. 

Buses and Shuttles

  • The Whatcom Transportation Authority (WTA) is our local bus system with more than 30 routes linking communities throughout the county. Hop on a bus to explore every angle of Bellingham and explore more of surrounding Whatcom County by catching a ride to Ferndale, Lynden, or the Baker Foothills.
  • The Lynden Hop is an easy way to get around Lynden. Open to anyone, this on-demand service is just $1 per ride and is wheelchair accessible. 
  • The Bellair Airport Shuttle offers convenient service to and and from SeaTac Airport, the Washington State Ferry dock at Anacortes, and several other destinations along the I-5 corridor. Charter buses are also available from this operator.
  • Quick Shuttle operates daily service between Vancouver BC, Bellingham International Airport, and Seattle. Riders enjoy multiple pick-up and drop-off locations, free high speed Wi-Fi, and power at every seat.
  • Greyhound departs from the Bellingham Bus Station (401 Harris Ave.) four times a day to downtown Seattle and Vancouver, B.C.
  • FlixBus (formerly Megabus) offers affordable routes between Bellingham, Seattle, and Vancouver, B.C. In Bellingham, the bus picks up and leaves from either the Bellingham Bus Station (401 Harris Ave.) or at the WWU Performing Arts Center (516 High St.). 

Taxis

  • Cab service is available throughout Bellingham, as well as between Bellingham and Seattle or Vancouver, B.C. There are several companies.

Rental Cars

Uber & Lyft

  • Uber is available throughout Bellingham, but does not offer service to or from Bellingham International Airport, Bellingham Cruise Terminal, or Fairhaven Station. 
  • Lyft is also available throughout Bellingham and currently offers service to and from Bellingham International Airport and the Bellingham Cruise Terminal. 

Train

Amtrak Cascades connects Bellingham with Everett, Seattle, Portland, OR and Eugene, OR to the south, as well as Vancouver, B.C. to the north. 

Amtrak is locally based at the Fairhaven Station (I-5 Exit 250), 401 Harris Ave. Tickets and pricing information at: (800) USA-RAIL or (360) 734-8851. 

EV Charging Stations

Driving or renting an electric vehicle? With more than 150 electric vehicle charging stations throughout the area, it's easy to stay charged no matter where you're going.
