The final 2.7-mile section of Mount Baker Highway (SR 542), known as the road to Artist Point, is now closed for the winter season.

Flying in to town or not bringing your own car? Whatcom County offers a variety of transportation options to help you get where you need to go! Explore all the options below.

  • The Whatcom Transportation Authority (WTA) is our local bus system with more than 30 routes linking communities throughout the county. Hop on a bus to explore every angle of Bellingham and explore more of surrounding Whatcom County by catching a ride to Ferndale, Lynden, or the Mt. Baker Foothills.
  • Not just a train service, Amtrak Cascades also offers connecting buses between Bellingham and Seattle throughout the day. Pick up/drop off is at Fairhaven Station (401 Harris Ave.)
  • Greyhound departs from 401 Harris Ave. to downtown Seattle and Vancouver, B.C.
  • FlixBus offers routes between Bellingham, Seattle, and Vancouver, B.C. In Bellingham, the bus picks up and leaves from either the Bellingham Bus Station (401 Harris Ave.) or at the WWU Performing Arts Center (516 High St.).

Amtrak Cascades connects Bellingham with Everett, Seattle, Portland, OR and Eugene, OR to the south, as well as Vancouver, B.C. to the north.

  • Uber is available throughout Bellingham. Service is not available to or from Bellingham International Airport, Bellingham Cruise Terminal, or Fairhaven Station.
  • Lyft is also available throughout Bellingham. Service is available for pick up and drop off at Bellingham International Airport, Fairhaven Station, and the Bellingham Cruise Terminal.
