40th Annual Bellingham Mayor's Arts Awards

Bellingham Mayor Kelli Linville announced  the recipients of the 40th Annual Mayor's Arts Awards. A reception and awards ceremony honoring the awardees is scheduled for May 15, 2019. This year the Mayor is honoring a broad range of artists, advocates, organizations, and performances that have significantly contributed to the arts in our community. Award winners were chosen based on nominations submitted by community members. Mayor's Arts Awards will be presented to the following recipients:

  • Garland Richmond
  • Renee Sherrer
  • Downtown Bellingham Partnership
  • Barbara Matilsky
  • Whatcom Museum Foundation Board of Trustees/Whatcom Museum Advocates/Whatcom Museum Docents
To learn more about each awardee and their accomplishments, please attend the celebration scheduled for Wednesday May 15, 2019 at the Mount Baker Theatre in the Walton Theatre, located at 104 N. Commercial Street in downtown Bellingham. A short reception begins at 5:30pm with the cermony beginning at 6:00pm. This event is open to the public.

        We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
