In conjunction with the exhibition, Un/Natural Selections: Wildlife in Contemporary Art, the Whatcom Museum and Village Books welcome artist and author Dave Eggers for an evening conversation with Seattle artist Jeff Schwager. Eggers will discuss his artwork, a few of which are included in the exhibition, his book The Museum of Rain, as well as his latest novels.
Un/Natural Selections features diverse works of art by 50 contemporary artists who explore our ever-changing relationship with the natural world. This show, on exhibit through Jan. 8, 2023 at the Museum’s Lightcatcher building is traveling exclusively from the permanent collection of the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson, WY with generous support from Art Bridges.
Trained as a painter, Eggers’s artworks have been exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit, the Nevada Museum of Art, the Biennial of the Americas, and numerous other galleries and art spaces. He is the author of many books, among them The Every, The Circle, The Monk of Mokha, A Hologram for the King, What Is the What, and The Museum of Rain. He is also the founder of McSweeney's, an independent publishing company based in San Francisco.
This event is co-presented by Village Books with book sales and an author signing at the event. Admission is free and seating is first-come, first-served.
