Semiahmoo Resort, Golf, and Spa, an iconic seaside resort in Blaine, WA on the pristine shores of Semiahmoo Bay and Drayton Harbor located just 90 minutes north of Seattle, is proud to announce that Semiahmoo Golf & Country Club has retained its certification as a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. “Semiahmoo Golf & Country Club has shown a strong commitment to its environmental program,” said Tara Donadio, Director of Cooperative Sanctuary Programs at Audubon International. “They are to be commended for their efforts to provide a sanctuary for wildlife on the golf course property.” Semiahmoo Golf & Country Club is one of fewer than 900 honored worldwide. The club was designated as a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary in 1993, and has been re-certified by Audubon representatives every three years since. “Semiahmoo Resort is blessed by its natural surroundings and we’re proud to be able to return that gift to the environment and wildlife here in Blaine,” said Brett Eaton, Semiahmoo’s PGA Director of Golf. “We strive to deliver pristine playing conditions at Semiahmoo Golf & Country Club for our members and guests, and that includes providing sanctuary for our native four-legged guests.” The program certifies energy and water conservation, wildlife and habitat management, waste management, outreach and education efforts that ensure the sanctuary of the property for wildlife. “We see the site visit as an important component of a course’s re-certification,” added Donadio. “It provides an objective verification of more visible aspects of the course’s environmental management activities. In addition. It offers an opportunity for golf course representatives to share publicly some of the voluntary actions they have taken to protect and sustain the land, water, wildlife and natural resources around them.” Open to the public on odd days of the month, and to course members at any time, Semiahmoo is one of the state’s best kept secrets. An 18-hole round at Semiahmoo peaks at just $90 on a summer weekend; starting on October 1, those rates drop to a peak of $55, with a low of $45. Through May 2017, Semiahmoo will offer an unlimited golf package at $198 for two people per night.
