Bellingham Repertory Dance Presents: Doubles

Bellingham Repertory Dance (BRD) presents Doubles, an evening of contemporary dance. Doubles is a movement exploration of partnership, reciprocity, and trust. The show features repertory works by choreographers from around the United States and Vancouver BC. BRD is thrilled to share this dynamic material with Bellingham audiences. Performances run November 10-11 and 16-18 at the Firehouse Arts and Events Center.

In Laura Patterson’s “Agiocochook,” dancers seek collective survival amidst a cold and harrowing landscape. Anna Bauer and Jairus Carr’s fast dash duet is all at once articulate, specific, and quirky. Samuel Hobbs’ “Early” challenges the boundaries of physical connection, and Rob Kitsos describes his work, “Conurbation,” as a reflection of “the multiplicity of confined urban spaces.” Doubles will include the premiere of a new work by BRD’s own Gabby Malagreca, as well as other original material by current company members.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
