Bringing Broadway musicals to Bellingham – Upfront style.

The Upfront Theatre in Bellingham has tackled many different styles of improvised comedy over the years. From murder mysteries, space adventures, the old west and even warm and fuzzy holiday formats.  Now they’re taking on the magical world of musicals with a full month run of An Improvised Musical. Each night the Upfront ensemble will debut a fully improvised musical including the plot, lyrics, music, choreography, and comedy. All will be combined to make an epic improvised production worthy of Broadway. There is no script, no lyrics to follow, and no sheet music to play, it is all made up on the spot. This is improv like you’ve never seen or heard it before. An Improvised Musical will run from June 30th through July 29th every Friday and Saturday night at 9 p.m. Advance tickets are available online at theupfront.com or the night of the show at the theater (if available).  Doors open forty-five minutes before show time for walk-up sales. The Upfront Theatre is a 100-seat cabaret style venue that offers live improv comedy shows every Thursday, Friday, & Saturday night. Established by Ryan Stiles in 2004, the theater is available for hire for entertainment, staff development training, and classes. For more information visit theupfront.com or call 360-733-8855.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
