City of Bellingham Accepting 2018 Tourism Promotion Grant Applications

Applications for the City of Bellingham's 2018 Tourism Promotion Grants will be accepted until 5 p.m. Friday, September 8, 2017. This program is designed to fund the marketing and promotion of projects or events that bring tourists to Bellingham, WA. The grant is a competitive process and applications are available on the City website at http://www.cob.org/services/business/tourism-grants.aspx. This will be the second year the City is offering a start-up grant opportunity for those events, programs or projects that are under three years old in addition to the Standard Grant application. In 2017, the City awarded 25 competitive grants totaling $171,700.  Programs and events included Dyrland Productions, Kuntz Community Arts, Fairhaven Historic Association and Downtown Bellingham Partnership.  Special consideration will be given to events that occur during the off-season (between October and May) and / or by partnering with other agencies or events to reduce duplication of activities. Complete program eligibility requirements are included in the application packet. Questions regarding this grant program should be directed to Shannon Taysi, Planning & Community Development, at staysi@cob.org or 360-778-8360.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
