Hell on Hooves Rodeo in Lynden Features Top Cowboys Feb. 11

Some of the region’s toughest cowboys and fastest cowgirls will compete for up to $20,000 in prize money during the Laurel Farm & Western Supply's Hell on Hooves Rough Stock Rodeo in Lynden, on Feb. 11. The event will feature top 20 cowboys and cowgirls in the Pacific Northwest and Canada in four events – bull riding, bareback riding, saddle bronc riding and barrel racing. They have been invited to the heated Washington Tractor Arena at the Northwest Washington Fair & Event Center, 1775 Front St., Lynden. Some of the Hell on Hooves contestants previously have qualified for the National Finals Rodeo. Also, children will try their luck in mutton busting. Music in the beer garden will be offered until 11 p.m. after the competition, which is organized by Wild West Events. The presenting sponsor is Taylor Truck Driving School. Advance tickets for Hell on Hooves are available for $15 at Laurel Farm & Western Supply, 325 W. Laurel Road, Bellingham. Tickets cost $18 at the gates, which open at 6 p.m. Feb. 11, and children 5 and younger are admitted for free.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
