Ski to Sea Race Is Currently Seeking Over 200 Volunteers

Ski to Sea is still seeking general volunteers to fill over 200 or our 500 positions Memorial Day weekend from Mt Baker to Bellingham. All volunteers get a lunch and free t-shirt! Groups are especially helpful so we are asking the community at large to gather friends, family, co-workers, clubs, or church groups and sign up today to be part of the team that hosts the largest event in Bellingham/Whatcom County. The volunteer page of our website lists all the reasons to volunteer and has the form with all of the open positions.

We are also looking for two enthusiastic individuals to join our Race Committee as Canoe Leg Chairs for the 2025 race and beyond! Leg Chairs are responsible for overseeing one specific race leg: coordinating with volunteers, managing equipment, ensuring a safe, fun experience for participants, and attending race committee and safety meetings. This unpaid role requires strong organization, leadership, and communication skills and open availability race weekend. Role responsibilities start in April, and interested parties can email info@skitosea.com for more information.

We appreciate any help you can provide ensuring we get enough folks so that racers and spectators have a fun and safe race day!

The Ski to Sea Race and Jr Ski to Sea Race are owned and operated by Whatcom Events, a volunteer-operated and community-driven 501(c)(4) organization.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
