For the month of March, Make.Shift Gallery in Bellingham, invites you to experience its newest exhibit That's So Metal. The gallery will feature a variety of exciting and unique metalwork from local metalworkers, welders and artists. Featured artists will include Sara Thornton, AnonyMouse, Phoenix Booth, Mark Allyn, and more. For the opening night only, Friday, Mar. 1, Make.Shift will also be hosting the Anglerfish Sauna, a wood fired sauna on wheels - in the shaple of an anglerfish. The project was built by the Hundred Handed Ones architectural collective, a collaboration between two artists: Travis Skinner (sculptor in wood and metal) and Travis Conn (sheet metal specialist). The sauna features a custom stove int he tail with a garlic bulb stone basket heat exchanger, a raised brass lure light, blown glass eyeball window/lights, cedar bent wood interior and a brass and copper exterior. The sauna will be fully operational during Art Walk - attendees can enter through the mouth into the belly of the beast and witness natural form inspired by life. The night will be accompanied by musical performances from local metal bands. Join us for a multifacted show that will really grind your gears. Downtown Bellingham First Friday Artwalk takes place Mar. 1, from 6 - 10 p.m. Please visit our website at makeshiftproject.com/gallery or contact the gallery director, Jessyca Murphy at gallery@makeshiftproject.com.
