The Upfront Celebrates Their Anniversary, Superheros and Comedy in August

The Upfront Theatre in Bellingham, WA turns 13 years old this August, and will celebrate with a weekend full of improv comedy shows featuring Ryan Stiles, players from the Mainstage Ensemble, and an outside guest or two. The anniversary weekend will take place August 11 and 12, with shows at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. Tickets for this special weekend will go on Sale on Wednesday, July 19. Surrounding our special weekend, we are bringing back the action with our improvised superhero show, The Heroes. Follow a team of heroes as they take on villains to save the world while battling their own interpersonal problems.  Egos, and (maybe not so) useful super powers, fuel the fire of funny in this epic superhero tale.  This show is a mash-up of superhero teams like the Avengers and the Justice League with the comedic stylings of the improv game Superheroes from Whose Line is It Anyway.  Watch performers create new superheroes right in front of your eyes to team up and (hopefully) save the world.  An action adventure with laughs and heroic behavior all in one.   The Heroes runs August 4 – August 26 every Friday and Saturday night at 9 p.m. Advance tickets are available online at theupfront.com or the night of show at the theatre (if available).  Doors open forty-five minutes before show time for walk-up sales. The Upfront Theatre is a 100-seat cabaret style venue that offers live improv comedy shows every Thursday, Friday, & Saturday night. Established by Ryan Stiles in 2004, the theatre is available for hire for entertainment, staff development training, and classes. For more information visit theupfront.com or call 360-733-8855.

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
