Whatcom Senior Day in the Park Resource Fair & BBQ 2023

The Whatcom Council on Aging is excited to announce the 23rd year of Whatcom Senior Day in the Park, a Picnic with a Purpose. This event is dedicated to connecting older adults with local resources and businesses that cater to seniors and their families.

Older adults in Whatcom County are invited to enjoy a resource fair, delicious BBQ lunch, live music, activities including Hovander Garden Tours & exercise demos, door prizes, and more at Hovander Homestead Park in Ferndale on Wednesday, August 2nd from 10am-2pm.

This year’s Senior Day in the Park resource fair will feature over 60 local businesses and programs representing housing, education, recreation, and health, including title sponsors, VibrantUSA, Signature Healthcare at Home, and Hempler’s Foods. There will be something for everyone, including music, lawn games, and a tour with the Master Gardeners.

There is a suggested donation of $5 for lunch, but please join us regardless of your ability to pay. For more information, contact Molly at 360-733-4030 x1020; Msimon@whatcomcoa.org.

See you at the park!

We acknowledge that Whatcom County is located on the unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. They cared for the lands that included what we’d call the Puget Sound region, Vancouver Island and British Columbia since time immemorial. This gives us the great obligation and opportunity to learn how to care for our surrounding areas and all the natural and human resources we require to live. We express our deepest respect and gratitude for our indigenous neighbors, the Lummi Nation and Nooksack Tribe, for their enduring care and protection of our shared lands and waterways.
